We have always been really proud to be transparent and clear on our pricing. As a multi-discipline martial arts association we have to cater for thousands of clubs across hundreds of discipline structures. This means we do have a large, flexible membership offering which can be easily tailored to each individual club's needs, to make something truly unique and fit for purpose. We find this helps to keep costs down for clubs, and ensures everyone has the cover or membership they need.

BMABA membership is a complete professional platform for martial arts clubs. Your membership includes access to tools, governance, safeguarding oversight, CPD, technology, and support that would cost hundreds of pounds per year to source independently - if they were available at all.

Every club is different, so our pricing is flexible. Choose the membership tier, insurance, and student cover that fits your club, and build a package that works for you.

Your membership includes, at no extra cost:

*Bronze membership has access to the Concussion training, SENCO, Level 1 and Level 2, plus the induction but not the full suite of CPD.

Insurance is typically the largest single cost in your membership price. We want to be completely transparent about how it works.

BMABA is authorised and regulated by the FCA as an Introducer Appointed Representative (IAR), covered through registration number 308626. We negotiate the best possible coverage and rates with our underwriters on your behalf.

Insurance is priced on a pass-through basis. The premium you pay reflects the genuine underwriting cost of your cover, plus a small administrative charge. That charge funds the governance oversight, suitability vetting, claims support, and compliance management that keeps your cover reliable and your club protected.

The administrative charge exists solely to ensure we can manage the programme responsibly - processing declarations, handling claims, maintaining insurer relationships, and overseeing the suitability and compliance checks that underpin your cover.

For context: the cheapest standalone martial arts instructor insurance available in the UK today - without any membership, governance, tools, or support - typically starts at £82 (and this includes their introductory price discount! and runs well above £99 for equivalent cover). Many insurers offer loss-leaders - a lower first year fee, then a big increase in the second year onwards; we don't do that. Everyone pays the same, fair price - whether they're new or returning.

If you need to add instructors, assistants, volunteers, students, or any other cover mid-term, we'll only charge the pro-rata amount to bring you forward to your renewal date, with the exception of named students, which are issued on an annual basis.

Membership and insurance are separate. Choose the membership tier that suits your club, then add instructor insurance below. This means you're never paying for more than you need, and your insurance cover is the same regardless of membership tier.

Volume discounts apply across your entire club. If you have 6 Bronze and then add a Gold instructor, the Gold is priced at the 6-10 tier. Discounts are cumulative across all instructor memberships on your account.

Insurance pricing is separate from membership. Each policy carries a genuine per-person underwriting cost that we pass through from our insurer. We offer a modest volume reduction on the administrative element of the premium for clubs insuring multiple instructors, reflecting the lower per-policy admin cost of managing a single larger account.

All instructor insurance includes as standard;

Named vs Open Allocation: Named insurance covers a specific, named instructor on your account. Open Allocation provides flexible policies that can be assigned and reassigned between instructors as needed, ideal for clubs with guest instructors, cover teachers, or rotating staff. Open Allocation carries a small premium to reflect the additional underwriting flexibility, risk, and staffing costs to facilitate this setup.

Referee Cover requires a named instructor policy to be active on your account and is purchased as an additional extension. Referee cover is strictly subject to the holder having completed the BMABA EventReady CPD and BMABA referee qualification.

Live Blades Extension is available to instructors holding the BMABA Live Blades Instructor qualification only. Cover applies to the use of live bladed weapons in training and demonstration under controlled conditions as set out in the BMABA Live Blades framework.

Personal Accident benefits include temporary total disablement benefit payable for up to 54 weeks excluding the first two weeks, accidental death benefit of £25,000, permanent disability benefit of £25,000, hospital cash benefit of £25 per day for up to 14 days, broken bones benefit of £100 per bone up to £300, physiotherapy up to 10 sessions and £350, and dental treatment up to £250. Cover does not apply to pre-existing conditions. Age limit applies at 70. Children under 16 have no weekly benefit and a reduced accidental death benefit.

No insurance cost is associated with assistant or volunteer registrations. These are pure membership and governance registrations that ensure everyone involved in your club is properly recorded, vetted where appropriate, and covered under your club's wider governance framework. Assistants and Volunteers also receive access to exclusive training, as well as core training such as First Aid, Safeguarding, Concussion, SENCO, as well as our Cadet or Assistant Training programme, and lots more.

Every student registration includes £1,000,000 Student Public Liability Insurance, BMABA Student Membership, and Licensing. Cover operates on a worldwide basis excluding the USA and Canada for members domiciled in the UK, Isle of Man or Channel Islands. Pricing scales with your club; the more students you register, the less you pay per head.

Event cover is included free of charge for all clubs with active BMABA student licensing in place, for sanctioned events of up to 500 spectators and 250 participants taking place within the UK. This was previously available as a standalone product from £139.99 to £249.99 depending on contact level and limit of indemnity.

To access free event cover, your event must be sanctioned by BMABA and you must hold an active BMABA Event Ready Licence. Learn more here.

Non-members wishing to participate in a sanctioned event can be registered as temporary BMABA members for Public Liability purposes only at £2.50 per head. Temporary membership confers Public Liability cover only and does not include Personal Accident. Alternatively, clubs can register non-members as student members prior to the event to avoid the per-head charge.

Events exceeding 500 spectators or 250 participants must be referred to BMABA for separate terms.

For clubs operating as a limited company, CIC, charity, or other formal entity, Club Cover provides comprehensive business-level protection for the legal entity itself.

Club cover is provided free of charge in your first year when you join BMABA with active student licensing in place.

We do this because we are a not-for-profit and we want to ensure grassroots clubs are properly covered from day one, without financial pressure while you get to grips with our regulatory framework, governance tools, and platform.

At renewal, club cover continues free of charge for clubs that have achieved Regulation Ready Bronze or above. For clubs that have not engaged with the Regulation Ready framework, club cover remains available as an optional extra at the standard annual rate.

Please note that Employers Liability at £10,000,000 is not included in the standard Club Cover product and nor is venue cover. Clubs requiring Employers Liability cover should contact us directly for a referral. Likewise, if you lease or own a premise and need premise cover (for things like slips and trips in the car park or changing room, or equipment cover for laptops and mats etc) please contact the office.

Monthly pricing is available on all memberships and insurance. Monthly pricing carries a small premium over the annual equivalent, reflecting the additional administration of monthly billing including the risk of default and the extra payment processing fees. Paying annually always represents the best value.

For Armed Forces, we include past and present serving members of any branch, including current serving members of Reserve forces. Club Colours Discount: Clubs that hold the BMABA Club Colours award receive a 5% discount applied across their full membership basket at renewal. This includes membership, instructor insurance and student licensing. This is our way of recognising clubs that take standards seriously and invest in maintaining them. To qualify, your Club Colours status must be current and verified at the point of renewal.

Regulation Ready Free Club Cover: Clubs that achieve and maintain Regulation Ready Bronze or above receive their annual club entity cover completely free of charge at renewal. This covers Public Liability, Professional Indemnity and Abuse Extension for the club's legal entity. Regulation Ready is free to obtain.

We recognise that some longstanding members may have legacy pricing arrangements or bespoke quotes from prior renewals.
